City honored for Haw Creek People Trail project

COLUMBUS, Ind. – The city of Columbus, the Columbus Parks and Recreation Department, Bartholomew County, and Strand Associates received the ACEC Indiana 2019 Engineering Excellence Award last Tuesday. Executive Director of Public Works/City Engineer Dave Hayward, Director of Columbus Parks and Recreation Department Mark Jones, city staff members, and representatives of Strand Associates were on hand to accept the award. The honor was given in recognition of the work completed last year by Strand Associates on the Haw Creek People Trail extension, which included the restoration and relocation of a 107-year-old historic steel truss bridge to span Haw Creek near Lincoln Park and Hamilton Community Center and Ice Arena.
