Wanted Texas man arrested in Bartholomew Co.

COLUMBUS, Ind. – Authorities at the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office say Deputy Brent Worman responded to the 4500 block of North Long Road, at about 12:15 p.m. on Wednesday, after being informed by Bartholomew County Sexual Violent Offender Registry Coordinator Rudy Olivo that a wanted Texas man was working at a local business. The suspect, Joel Johnson, was wanted for a Felony charge of aggravated assault with a child. Upon the deputy's arrival, he observed Johnson walking from the back of the building to the entryway. Worman placed Johnson in hand restraints while telling him that he was being taken into custody because of the warrant from Texas. Johnson was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail. The investigation is still in its preliminary stage.
