FRANKLIN, Ind.–The Franklin City Council considered three separate tax abatement requests at Monday night’s meeting.
One request came from Mitsubishi Turbocharger and Engine America (ETEA), hoping to be approved after they failed to file their tax forms for 2018. The company stated that the Economic Development Commission didn’t send out a deadline reminder and that the ETEA had been on time for the past several years. She asked the council to approve the abatement so that the company could correct their tax return forms for this year.
The AMayZing Food & Beverage Group (AF&BG) requested an abatement for the construction of buildings in Lineville Business Park. AF&BG was hoping to be granted a 10-year real property tax abatement with a 2% economic development fee, along with another 10-year real property tax abatement with a 3% fee.
Lastly, Sargent Aerospace & Defense (SA&D) was looking for a 10-year real property tax abatement ($2,900,000) and a 5-year personal property tax abatement ($600,000) to build an additional facility on a nearby lot in the park.
After deliberation, the council approved all three requests.
