Prom season is here

COLUMBUS, Ind. – Area high school proms are taking center stage in Bartholomew, Johnson, Jackson, and Jennings Counties. The next two weekends will be filled with fancy dresses, tuxedos, flowers, fun, and lots of picture-taking by mom and dad. The Franklin Community High School Prom is this Friday, April 26, from 7 to 11 p.m., at the Indiana Roof Ballroom, in Indianapolis. Hauser High School has its prom this Saturday, April 27, from 8 to 11 p.m., at the White Diamond Lavender Farms, in Hope, with the After Prom at Hi-Way Lanes, in Franklin. Jennings County High School is getting ready for its prom night this Saturday, April 27, from 6 to 10:30 p.m., at the Factory 12 Event Loft, in Columbus. The Bartholomew Consolidated School System (BCSC) holds its prom for Columbus East, Columbus North, and the Columbus Signature Academy on Saturday, May 4. The event will be from 9 to midnight, at The Commons, in the Nugent-Custer Performance Center, upstairs. The After-Prom committee has planned an extravagant party at Foundation For Youth, from midnight to 3;30 a.m. For more information about the BCSC Prom and After Prom, click here. Edinburgh High School also celebrates its prom on Saturday, May 4, from 8 to 11 p.m., at the Barn at Hamner Ridge, in Edinburgh.

Flood Advisory issued for south-central Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Indianapolis has declared a Flood Advisory for portions of Bartholomew, Jennings, Jackson, and Decatur Counties until 2 p.m., today. Doplar radar indicates heavy rain could cause minor flooding. By 8 a.m., Saturday, up to two inches of rain had already fallen. Some cities that might experience high waters are Columbus, Seymour, North Vernon, Edinburgh, Greensburg, and Hope. When encountering flooded roads, NWS reminds you to “turn around, don’t drown.” Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Report high water to your loccal law enforcement agency when you can safely do so. Again, a Flood Advisory is in effect for portions of Bartholomew, Jennings, Jackson, and Decatur Counties until 2 p.m., today, April 20..
