COLUMBUS, Ind.–Traffic on Interstate 65 came to a stop for roughly five hours Monday evening, but the delay was not caused by construction or an accident. Columbus Police Department’s public information officer Lt. Matt Harris says that officers were dispatched to the northbound 64.5-mile marker of I-65 in response to a deceased female on the shoulder of the roadway.
Investigators said the woman is described as a 20 to 30-year-old Hispanic with a lip piercing, wearing a maroon colored sweatshirt, tan pants, and black tennis shoes. Detectives are currently working to determine her identity.
Anyone who was traveling I-65 between 8:00 and 8:45 p.m., on Monday, and observed either a vehicle parked near the interstate or a woman walking in the area is urged to contact the Columbus Police Department at 812-376-2600. Tips and information may be left anonymously.
